Hello! My name is Steph and I’m new to the blogging world.
Actually I’m new to the Mom world and the SAHM world too. After having a successful natural home/birth center birth in 2023, I realized how much motherhood is ingrained into our biology. Still, it’s so crazy navigating motherhood, no matter what stage you’re at! In many ways, becoming a mom made me feel like I had met my true calling in life finally. But in other ways, I felt I lost my old identity. It seems sometimes that this new identity of “Mama” consumes you.
I want this blog to be for mom’s that are into creating a natural and minimal space for their families. The idea of self-sufficiency is something that strongly resonates with me. I believe we should do our best to be less dependent on the corporations and more dependent on ourselves and our neighbors.
Here you’ll find resources for everything mom!
My Background
I’ve worked in the service industry my whole adult life. I worked in bartending and management positions. I couldn’t see myself leaving because the money was easy and good! It was hard for me to imagine finishing my bachelors degree with more debt and a lower salary to show for it.
That was until I became a mom, and I was four months in at my job after maternity leave. Then, I decided to take a major pay cut to be a SAHM. If you know, you know.
Making that decision to give up so much money to be home with your family is so insane. On one hand you know it’s a no brainer, because being able to raise your child is priceless, and worth every penny. On the other, it’s nauseating to see the large amount of money you’re simply walking away from.
The only way for us to combat this as a community is to look at it as the norm. Maybe together we can come together and make it easier for moms to do the same. Maybe we can help each other create a safe and simple space for our families the way our biology is telling us.
