Free Spice Jar Labels that are Fully Customize-able: Download and Make Now!

When renovating our kitchen, I told my husband that we were going to have the coolest, most aesthetic spice drawer ever. Fast forward a year later, and we just have a pile of spice shakers in a drawer. There are loose seasonings everywhere, and random utensils that don’t belong.

You could say that I’m overwhelmed with decision paralysis. I like to just sweep things under the rug (or into a drawer) that require a lot of decision making. That is my experience with what jars I was going to pick for this project.

*Disclosure: I only recommend products I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are my own. This post may contain affiliate links while at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.

This might sound silly and like it’s not that big of a decision. Still, when I was looking at the products available on amazon, there was nothing that completely appealed to everything I wanted. I also didn’t like that if they didn’t include a label for every spice or seasoning, I had to hand write it in. That kinda of defeated the whole point of the spice drawer of my dreams!

Naturally, as with everything else, I decided I’ll just have to make them myself! I used baby food jars to make my spice jars, and it turned out so cute! You can see that post here!

What is Included in the Download?

These labels are round and 1.5″ in diameter. They’re all pretty simple and aesthetically pleasing. One is a farmhouse style, one more bohemian, and one is minimalist. You get the link to all three styles in the download and can mix and match as you please.

There is also a Cricut Design Space link to a cutting template in PNG format.

How Can i make my Own Labels for Jars?

Labels can be made with only a printer, they can be hand calligraphed, or you can make them with a Cricut or other cutting machine. This post will give you a full step by step on how to download and print (and cut if you’re using Cricut) your labels.

The download is already fitted to the template for these labels. The easy way would be to print directly on these, and you’d be good to go! They are completely waterproof and exactly the right size.

There are also a ton of design programs you can use to make labels for your seasoning jars. Canva is a great tool that is available for free! It is super easy to use and beginner friendly. This is the program this free template uses. You’ll be able to customize your labels to organize any herb and spice jar you can imagine!

Can you make spice jar labels with cricut?

Yes absolutely! I’ve included a free template to cut your labels after you print them!

Why Make Your Own Spice Jar Labels?

Simply put, you have complete control over how they look. This includes what you want them to say and what design features you want them to have. All the herbs and spices that you have will have their own custom label so you don’t have to worry about them not matching. You get to pick the label paper you use, whether its square, circle, shiny, or matte. They will be completely to your liking.

The other huge reason you might want to make your own, is the cost. It is possible that you have everything on hand and these will be free or very cheap to make yourself. I am using baby food jars and I already have vinyl sticker paper so my spice jars will be free for me!

What is the best way To Label Spice Jars?

Depending on where you will store them, you may want to label them on the top lid or on the side. The best way to label would be to use a waterproof vinyl sticker, so that it won’t come off when washing. Vinyl is also hydrophobic so you don’t have to worry about it absorbing water.

You can also write on these if you wanted, but a printer will work the best.

What you Will Need

How to Download and Print

After entering your email and clicking “download” you will see a PDF with all the links for each design, and the Cricut cutting template if you choose to go that route.

From here you can open the link of the design that you like the best. you will be able to edit the names of all the herbs, spices, and seasonings that you would like to include in your spice drawer.

This video shows how to open your templates, edit and print. It’s very important that you change the print settings to scale 100% rather than scale to fit, because the circles need to line up exactly!

How to Cut on Cricut

After printing, you will line up the corner of your page with the starting axis on your cutting mat. All machines are different and you know your machine better than I do. Plus my machine is super finicky and uncalibrated so mines always off! eek!

The snap mat feature on iPad and iPhone is pretty helpful and works well for me.

Cut By Hand

If you want to cut them by hand, you can turn on the template circles to act as a guide. The video above shows how to do this at the 0:20 mark. They are set to transparent as to not print on the labels, but you may choose to use them if cutting by hand.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I went ahead and replaced all the links on the Doc with new ones, so hopefully this will resolve the issue. If not, please let me know!
